How We Approach Privacy at EXANTE: Handling User Data and Analytics

We at EXANTE believe you should be in the driver’s seat when it comes to your personal data. You should decide who can access and view your info among individuals and companies online, including ourselves.

Websites collect visitor data to see how a company’s marketing efforts pay off and how a service provider can improve its offering. At EXANTE, we only collect the minimum data required to serve your queries.

How do we protect your personal info?

We have removed these tracking tools and cookies from our website:

  • Facebook pixel. Used by Facebook to deliver a series of advertisement products such as real time bidding from third party advertisers
  • Google pixel. Used by Google AdWords to re-engage visitors that are likely to convert to customers based on the visitor's online behaviour across websites
  • Third party cookies. Marketing and statistics cookies that track user data. We only keep those that are essential to website functioning

Here are more details.

What is a pixel?

A ‘pixel’ is an HTML code snippet embedded on certain pages. Such code enables advertising platforms like Facebook or Google to track user conversions from ads. That’s a way for us as an advertiser to see how our ads are performing.

How does the pixel work?

Here are the basics explained in three bullets:

  • Ad platforms direct visitors to our website
  • The pixel allows the platforms to assess how our ad converts, i.e. how clicks translate into actions (registrations, downloads, signups, etc.)
  • This data helps us optimise our website to cater to your needs and boost conversion rates

What’s wrong with the pixels?

Data collected with the use of the pixel feature is not anonymous. In fact, it can be linked with specific individuals. By continuing to use the pixel, we would allow ad platforms to learn about our visitors’ activity on the EXANTE website and use this knowledge to target them with ads.

Looking into the issue, we decided this goes against our privacy policy so we no longer use ad platform pixels for our marketing purposes.

What cookies/trackers are here to stay?

We only stick to the necessary cookies. Those that help make our website usable, e.g., enable page navigation and access to secure areas and store user sessions during web surfing. The website cannot function properly without these cookies so we’re keeping them to maintain robust user experience.
