Look at our brief overview of stocks that might fit into your investment portfolio.
Best-performing IPO of 2016
One more noteworthy company among newly added instruments in EXANTE platform is Acacia Communications called the best-performing IPO of 2016. The telecommunication company specialises in products that transfer data from optical interconnections into a silicon-based chip, which helps tech firms identify performance issues. Acacia went public in May with an opening price of $23 that went up to $30 by the end of the first trading day. Although the stocks are currently lower than their peak value, the oveall demand for company's products is growing, which makes Acacia quite promising.
Ceramics is the future
Geberit Group, the globally operating European leader in the field of sanitary products, might be a good option for investors looking for long-term opportunities in the market. During the last year, the company performed in an overall positive trend with share prices increasing by 25%. Despite the slight slump during the last two months of 2016, the company is now slowly taking back its positions. As stated in the company’s media release with annual results from January 17th, the Geberit Group's sales development in 2016 was shaped by the positive environment in the construction industry and the integration of the ceramics business. Overall, net sales increased by 8.3% to CHF 2,8 billion.
Toshiba clearance sale
One more global giant, Toshiba corporation, is now available in EXANTE terminal among other Japanese companies traded on the Tokyo Stock Exchange. Unlike the previous company of our review, this one has recently had rough times with a plunge by over 40% in three days on word of a writedown at its U.S. nuclear services unit. Before the situation has worsen with an additional 26% plummet, Toshiba was among the three best-performing companies in the Nikkei 225 Stock Average for 2016. Thus, it might be too early to remove the company from portfolio, besides, most experts expect a rebound of the share prices as soon as bankruptcy fears recede.
The oldest member of HKEX
If you find Asian markets attractive for investments, you can also consider the oldest company listed on the HKEX, The Hongkong and Shanghai Hotels, Ltd. Incorporated in 1866, HSH is the owner and operator of the world’s luxury Peninsula Hotel chain with a diverse portfolio of HK$45 billion in assets. While company started 2016 with recovery from previous recessions, reaching its yearly maximum at 9,30 per share, the end of the year turned out to be less successful. HSH tends to be slowly getting back to previous prices, thus, being a promising choice for investors.
