On December 5th, 2015 The President of Malta Marie Louise Coleiro Preca held an exclusive dinner at Verdala Palace with special guests from EXANTE and RE/MAX. Alexey Kirienko, EXANTE and Kevin Buttigieg, RE/MAX were praised by her Excellency for supporting local projects and for the assistance they have given to The Malta Community Chest Fund.
The guests were treated to a five course dinner provided by Island Caterers surrounded by the unique ambiance of The Palace.
Verdala Palace, which now serves as the official summer residence of the President of Malta, was built during the reign of Hugues Loubenx de Verdalle, in 1586. It was designed by a prominent Maltese architect Girolamo Cassar who created the visual appearance of many buildings in Valletta. The palace is a classical example of Renaissance architecture, and its design could possibly be influenced by Villa Farnese in Caprarola, Italy.
Verdala Palace is a two-story rectangular building with five-story pentagonal bastion-like turrets on each corner. It is surrounded by a stone quarried ditch. The turrets and ditch give the palace the outward appearance of a fort, however, it was never used as a defense construction, and was even never intended to be used this way. The interior of the palace is very ornate, with frescoes on some of the ceilings.
"It was a pleasure for us to collaborate on this event with RE/MAX and to have The President Marie-Louise Coleiro Preca as our host, it was indeed an honor", stated Patrick J O’ Brien, EXANTE’s Communicaton Director. He added, "We know first-hand how important it is to maintain relationships and we are grateful for all the support and friendships that we have received since being based in Malta."
