EXANTE, in collaboration with Nature Trust Malta and the Ministry for Resources and Rural Affairs, planted fifty pine trees in the Xrobb l-Għagin Nature Park on the 24th November, 2012 as part of the company's global corporate social responsibility "Investment in Nature" program.
The Xrobb l-Għagin Nature Park and Sustainable Development Centre consists of over 155,000 square metres of land on a peninsula with scenic views in the southeast of Malta within the limits of Marsaxlokk. The purpose of the park and its facilities is to educate, demonstrate and conduct research in sustainable environmental solutions with the overall objective of increasing the use of renewable energy, waste-water management and the safeguarding of biodiversity.
"Investing in Nature" forms part of EXANTEs Global Corporate Social Responsibility Programme and the company intends on organising this event on a regular basis. The aim of "Investing in Nature" is for EXANTE's employees to donate their free time to demonstrate their commitment to the local community and plant trees dedicated to their most valuable customers to show appreciation for their loyalty, and to assist in achieving social and environmental sustainability.
The tree planting event commenced early in the morning with a tour of the Xrobb l-Għagin Sustainable Development Centre for EXANTE's employees, their families and visiting Italian investment students. This was followed by the planting of fifty pine trees in one of the afforestation sites. The event entailed close collaboration between EXANTE and Nature Trust Malta, which was responsible for identifying an appropriate area and will continue maintaining the plot.
