Our New Market Depth volume visualization modes can help you get a better grip on market condition

Market Depth is a specialized module in EXANTE trading terminal providing a list of active limit orders, grouped by side and arranged by price. It allows to analyse the market condition by discovering price levels and resistance zones.

The Classic mode features the simplest Market Depth view. Two new modes utilize volume data to build a histogram by size or total size.

How does it work?

Classic mode (Without histogram) has only two lines colored regardless of their volume sizes: the lowest ask and the highest bid.

Histogram by size shows coloured columns next to every line where an order exists; its width equals to the size only – the longest column corresponds to the greatest size.

Histogram by total size takes the total size of all orders on the buy or sell side into consideration, so the longest column would be the uppermost or the lowermost. It sums up the total size starting from the price that is the closest to the market. For example, total volume size for the price 198.3 would be the sum of the volumes for prices 198.81, 198.7, 198.4 and 198.3.

To cycle through modes, click on the icon in the top part of the Market Depth window.

Why would I need it?

You can use new Market Depth modes with other build-in tools to determine where the price could probably go and place an order! A little reminder: you can do it right in the same window.

  • To place a limit order, enter a quantity and click on the line inside.
  • If you do it while holding ‘Alt’ key, you can place a stop order.
  • By entering quantity and clicking ‘Buy’ or ‘Sell’, you would be placing a market order.
  • You can also add Take Profit/Stop Loss orders. Just fill in the desired parameters when placing an order!

If you do not see a trading panel here, press the corresponding icon at the top part of the Market Depth window.

Keep your trading terminal up-to-date to receive new features and be ahead of trends!
